Information That eDOT/GEM Collects
You can inquire about an opportunity to serve, contact us about general questions, and sign up for our newsletters when you visit/use our websites or apps. If you elect to engage in these completely optional activities, GEM may ask you to provide us with certain PII to perform the service requested. We may ask you for your first and last name, mailing/physical address (including zip code), e-mail address, telephone number, marital status, and other PII.
How We Use this Information
For your requested purposes, portions of your PII may be stored on our website or another eDOT/GEM administered database. We store PII in a way that safely and securely retains your information.
We may use PII:
- to contact you if you expressed interest in an opportunity to serve with eDOT/GEM or one of its partners;
- to respond to your inquiries when you submit feedback or questions;
- to send marketing information about our activities (stories, donation opportunities, news, etc.) if you choose to regularly receive such information. Any GEM subscription is optional and free; you may unsubscribe at any time;
- to process registration or sign-up to a hosted event or program; and
- to process registration for using a mobile app or web app to maximize user experience or to verify identity for security reasons
eDOT/GEM reserves the right to cooperate with law enforcement officials in the investigation of alleged unlawful activities committed on or through our websites. eDOT/GEM may disclose PII in the course of officially authorized law enforcement investigations; or as required to comply with a current judicial proceeding, court order, warrant, subpoena or other legal process served on GEM; or to establish or preserve a legal claim or defense. In the event of a suspected attempt to deliberately circumvent our websites’ security, eDOT/GEM may share PII about a suspected intruder with law enforcement officials. eDOT/GEM shall have no legal liability for such disclosures. eDOT/GEM reserves the right to challenge the validity of any subpoena, court order, warrant, or other legal process, in its sole discretion.
We will not sell or market your PII to any third parties. We will not use or transfer PII to third parties for any unrelated purposes—we do not sell, rent, or trade our email lists.
