Intern Corner: Welcome, Eric!
Our little team here in Kandern had the privilege of welcoming a new intern last month. Hear from Eric on how God is using him and his skills here with eDOT:
Hello, my name is Eric, and I am a computer programmer from Ontario, Canada. I am spending the next 2 months with eDOT, helping out with a few development projects that they have right now.
The primary project that I am working on is the rebuilding of the existing C2C Story application. The current version of the app is built with a hybrid mobile-framework called Sencha Touch. Unfortunately, this is no longer suitable for modern devices and standards and must be re-done. Fortunately, the Lord has led me to GEM and is allowing me to apply my knowledge in the cutting edge of hybrid mobile development, and I am re-writing the C2C Story app in the brand-new Ionic 2 framework.
So far, I have made great strides towards the completion of the C2C app. With the Ionic 2 framework, the app runs much faster and smoother on both iOS and Android devices. Upon completion of the C2C app – among other development projects – I will be helping the eDOT team prepare for the new interns that will be coming this summer. This will be in the form of tutorials that will help them get familiar with some basic development concepts relating to Git, command line, and the Ionic 2 framework.
Please pray for Eric as he serves in the Lord with his skills. If you or someone you know may be interested in interning with eDOT, click here for upcoming opportunities.
