Introducing: Soul Connection
In effort to care for, encourage, and spiritually develop their missionaries, Greater Europe Mission has instituted a benefit of taking a Spiritual Retreat Day once every six weeks. This is not a Sunday Sabbath (we all know church responsibilities and family/community gatherings aren’t always full of “retreat”), but an extra day of ensuring that you spend concentrated and intentional time with the Lord.
But … the missionary gets confused. What must he/she do on their spiritual retreat day? How does one commune with God for an entire day, and is that even possible? Was there a list of suggested activities to complete? What to do? What to do? How would you respond if you were given a “spiritual retreat day?”
eDOT shares GEM’s desire to see people grow in their relationship with Jesus and has tackled the challenge of answering these spiritual retreat day questions. Soul Connection is a mobile application that was written and developed to resolve these obstacles and enhance this spiritual retreat day – not just for GEM missionaries, but for everyone. Believing that God desperately longs to communicate with us, His children, the Soul Connection app builds space into busy lives to make room for God to speak. The app recognizes that each of us has communication preferences; preferred ways of recognizing God in the world.
Individuals using Soul Connection will be given an opportunity to take an assessment. The assessment is used to make suggestions on preferred Pathways. Based on the assessment, a Path is presented to the individual. This Path presents an opportunity for communion with God, taking into account how that individual best recognizes God in the world.
Coming to GEM’s Annual Conference in August? Join us in exploring spiritual pathways in the seminars entitled “Risk Trying Something New: Finding Practices to Connect with God that Fit your Personality.” These seminars, offered by GEM’s Spiritual Life Team, focus on the opportunities to connect with God based on Gary Thomas’ Sacred Pathways. During this seminar, a brief introduction to the Soul Connection app will be given.
Soul Connection is nearing the end of development. Sign up for updates from GEM eDOT to find out when Soul Connection is available for download from your favorite mobile app store.
